The biotin-avidin/streptavidin system is a powerful and widely used tool in biotechnology. The researchers used anti-biotin antibodies for efficient detection and identification of biotinylated peptides. Proximity labeling of living cells was performed using APEX, and anti-biotin enrichment and mass spectrometry analysis were performed to efficiently identify and detect biotinylation sites. This powerful and sensitive detection workflow can significantly improve the efficiency of the most commonly used avidin/streptavidin for the detection of biotinylation sites.
